Connect Interactive Brokers to CRX

IBKR Client Portal / Gateway — username, password, paper|live.

Interactive Brokers connects through IB Gateway or Client Portal — not MT5. Gateway must be running and API-enabled before CRX can trade.

Before you connect
  • Enable API in IB Gateway — read-only OFF if trading required.
  • Use paper trading first (passphrase: paper).
  • Never enable withdrawal permissions on third-party keys.

Step 1 — On Interactive Brokers

Set up IB Gateway for Interactive Brokers

Interactive Brokers connects via the Client Portal API (IB Gateway or TWS). CRX needs your IB username, gateway password/token, and paper or live environment.

Install & log in to IB Gateway

Download IB Gateway (or TWS) from interactivebrokers.com. Log in with paper or live credentials. IBKR does not use MT5 — CRX talks to Client Portal API through Gateway.

  • IB Gateway → Configuration → API → Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients
  • Allow connections from localhost (127.0.0.1)
  • Default Client Portal port: 5000

Authenticate Gateway session

Gateway must show “Connected” / authenticated before CRX can validate. Complete 2FA on IB mobile if prompted. Paper account recommended first.

  • Paper: use paper trading username
  • Live: use live IBKR username
  • Keep Gateway running while CRX trades

Credentials for CRX

Username / Account = IB login. Password = gateway password. Environment = paper or live (lowercase).

  • Not MT5 — Gateway API only
  • Disconnect in CRX does not close Gateway

How to connect in CRX

Three steps in Settings → Venue Connection. Funds stay on Interactive Brokers — CRX never holds your capital.

Open Settings → Venue Connection

Dashboard → Settings → Venue Connection. Your CRX account must be Forex signup (not Crypto).

Select Interactive Brokers & paste credentials

Click Interactive Brokers in the Forex row. Paste: Username / Account, Password / Gateway token, Environment (paper|live). Click Connect Broker. IB Gateway must be logged in and API-enabled first.

Set risk & go live when ready

Settings → Risk: margin per trade, leverage, max positions. Enable Live Automation Consent only when you want real-money order instructions.
